The short version
Date Vault is a private notebook for your dating life. Everything you put into it is stored on your own iPhone, not on our servers — we don't operate any servers, and we have no way to see your data.
Three things are worth knowing:
- We have no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We cannot tell how you use the app, or that you use it at all.
- When you use the AI features, some of your notes are sent to Anthropic to be processed. Names and contact details are removed first.
- The app holds information about other people — your matches. Please read the section on that below, because it involves responsibilities that are partly yours.
Who is responsible for this app
Date Vault is provided by Vorcira LLC, based in New Jersey, United States. If you have a question about privacy or want to make a request about your data, email privacy@vorcira.com.
What the app stores, and where
Everything below is stored locally on your device, inside the app's private storage area. None of it is uploaded to us, because there is nothing to upload it to.
About your matches, as you enter it: name, age, photos and screenshots you import, bio text, interests, occupation, education, height, location, distance, marital status, smoking and drinking habits, the kind of relationship they are looking for, religion, how you rated them, their status in your pipeline, and any phone number, email address, or social media handle you choose to save.
Religion is the one field the app will never fill in for you. It is there because it matters to many people's decisions, but it is typed by hand. The AI is not asked to work it out from a screenshot, and the app does not infer it.
Your own notes and recordings: written notes, voice notes, photos of your outfits, scheduled dates and their locations, post-date ratings and comments, reminders, and (if you enable Message History) the text of messages you compose in the app.
About you: your own profile details if you fill them in, and your general location if you save one.
Settings and keys: your app preferences, and your Anthropic and Google Maps API keys if you enter them.
A note about how keys are stored. Your API keys are held in the iOS Keychain, which is hardware-backed and stays encrypted while your device is locked. They are never written into the app's ordinary storage, and they are not included in exported backups. As general good practice, use an API key created for this app alone and set a spending limit on it, so that removing it from Settings is enough to cut off access.
Deleting your data
Because everything is local, deleting the app deletes your data. There is no account to close and nothing for us to erase on our end. You can also delete individual profiles, notes, photos, or voice notes inside the app at any time, and remove your saved API keys from Settings.
If you have exported backup files, those live wherever you saved them — iCloud Drive, Files, email, or elsewhere — and you need to delete those yourself.
What leaves your device
Three outside services can receive data, each only when you use the feature that needs it. Nothing is sent in the background.
1. Anthropic — AI features
The app uses Anthropic's Claude AI to read screenshots and write suggestions. This only happens when you tap a button that starts it. Two different things are sent:
When reading a screenshot (adding a profile): before anything is sent, the app detects faces on your device and covers each one with a solid circle, along with the area showing the person's name. This happens locally — no image is uploaded in order to find the faces. It is the covered copy that is sent, never the original.
Every screenshot you add is sent. The app does not try to guess which ones are worth reading — a screenshot that looks like a plain photo often carries the bio or the age, and guessing wrong loses that information silently.
Face detection is not perfect. If someone is turned away, wearing sunglasses, or far from the camera, the app may not find a face, and in that case the screenshot is sent without one covered. Before you tap the button, the screen shows how many screenshots had a face found, and you can circle any face yourself using the eye icon — anything you circle is then covered in the same way.
When generating an analysis: no images are sent, and no names, phone numbers, email addresses, or social handles are sent — the person is described to the AI only as "the match." What is sent is their age, occupation, general area, bio, interests, height, education, whether they drink or smoke, what they're looking for, and any personal notes you have written about them.
Note that last part: your private notes are included so the suggestions can take them into account. If you would rather they weren't, don't put anything in the notes field that you wouldn't want processed.
Anthropic processes this on your behalf to return a result. Under Anthropic's API terms, this data is not used to train their models. Their privacy policy is at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
You need your own Anthropic API key for any of this to work. That means your AI usage is billed to your own Anthropic account under your own agreement with them, and we are not party to it.
2. Google Maps — travel times and midpoints
If you save a Google Maps API key and use the date-spot finder, the app sends your saved location and your match's location to Google to calculate driving routes and a midpoint between you. No names, photos, or notes are sent. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
3. OpenStreetMap — turning place names into coordinates
When no Google Maps key is set, the app uses the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to convert place names (for example, a neighbourhood or city) into map coordinates. Only the place name is sent — no names, photos, or notes.
Links that open outside the app
Buttons for OpenTable, Yelp, Google Maps, Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, and Messages hand off to those apps or to your browser. Once you leave Date Vault, you are on their service under their privacy policy, not ours. Where the app pre-fills a search, it includes only the location or the message text you typed.
Information about other people
This section matters, so it's written plainly.
Date Vault is designed to hold information about people you are talking to or dating. Those people did not install this app and have not agreed to anything. That is an unusual position for an app to be in, and it comes with real responsibilities.
How the app limits the exposure. All of it stays on your device. No profile is ever shared, published, or synced anywhere. Names and contact details are never sent to the AI. Faces are blacked out on your device before a screenshot is sent for reading, though detection can miss a face — see above for what happens then. There is no social layer, no directory, and no way for one user's vault to be visible to another.
What is on you. In many places — including the UK, the EU, and several US states — keeping records about other people carries obligations, and personal note-keeping is not always exempt. Please:
- Keep only what you actually need to remember a conversation.
- Take particular care with intimate, medical, religious, political, or sexual-orientation details about someone. These get extra legal protection almost everywhere. The app never reads them out of a screenshot for you, but a bio you save may mention them — so think before you keep it.
- Don't share screenshots, exported backups, or AI summaries with anyone else.
- Delete a profile when you're no longer in contact.
- If someone asks you what you hold about them, or asks you to delete it, honour it. Deleting their profile in the app removes it from your device.
Don't use this app to build a record about someone who hasn't consented to being in contact with you, or to keep tabs on anyone. That isn't what it's for.
Device permissions
Each is requested only when first needed, and each can be revoked in iOS Settings. Revoking one disables that feature, not the app.

Calendar access is used to add your own events and read reservation entries. The app does not modify or delete calendar events that it didn't create.
Backups
You can export an encrypted backup of everything in the app. Backups are encrypted with AES-256 using a password you choose, and that password is never stored anywhere — not in the app, not by us. If you lose it, the backup cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
Where the exported file goes is up to you, and once it leaves the app its security is in your hands and those of wherever you put it.
Children
Date Vault is not intended for anyone under 18, and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your rights
Because your data never reaches us, most data rights are things you can exercise directly on your device: you can see everything the app holds, edit it, export it, and delete it, without asking us. We hold no copy to give you, correct, or erase.
Depending on where you live you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA in relation to the third-party services named above. Those requests go to Anthropic, Google, or OpenStreetMap directly, since they are the ones processing that data. We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have — there is no data flowing to us to sell.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes. If we ever introduce accounts, subscriptions, or server-side processing, this policy will be revised before that ships, not after.
